The JCM Drive is the little sister of the Weehbo JVM Drive. Basically the same approach, but with less gain, and a revamped voicing for more 70's sounds. We might as well tell you right away, as for its big sister, whose qualities and absence of fault it takes over; After testing 100s of pedals, this one is outstanding and one of our all-time favourites.

The Weeboh JCM Drive adopts a "dual" box with the usual Gain and Level controls, active 3-band equalization and a mini toggle switch that allows you to choose a specific curve for the mids. There is also an Input button which allows you to control the input impedance, the pre-gain and to tighten the bass more or less. Inside, it's very very pretty, with PCBs and components of excellent quality and a precision assembly. German quality!

Small detail that is important, the pedal can be powered by 9V and has an additional button that allows you to raise this voltage internally to 18V. What does this change? Well in 9V you have a softer sound, a little warmer. At 18V you have more headroom and increased dynamics. We leave the choice to you and it couldn't be nicer!

Plugged into the clean channel of a Two-Rock Bloomfied (Dumble type amp), the JCM Drive immediately stands out. With a Les Paul and the JCM mode engaged, we are directly in the Appetite for Destruction and other classic 70-80's. With this JCM mode, you recreate a JCM 800 (2203 'n co…) In the JTM position, the pedal is less sharp, with a fuller low midrange and more softness. With this pedal you have the best of 70's Marshall sounds with a crazy low end, a very effective midrange setting, typical highs but without the "honeycomb" side. Clarity on the attack, ultra-musical compression, perfect bass hold and harmonics that burst out everywhere, it's a real firework.

Compared to the JVM drive, we generally have the same impressive gaming sensations, but with a more vintage voicing, a more pronounced, more open midrange, a little more “sharp” treble and less compression. Rest assured, they complement each other perfectly and the JCM demonstrates enormous versatility in a low-gain, mid-gain pushed register. The two very distinct ranges produced by the two channels make it a very good Swiss army knife, and the unique performance of the EQ section makes this pedal a must. Moreover, it does not sound like a pedal, but like a real additional amp channel. Its dynamics, articulation and that full note feel with every note played contribute greatly to this.

To go even further, the dynamic switch is unique, it transforms the response of the pedal. We get a more or less vintage / modern response via this one. The clean pedal in a superb way to the volume knob, it is controlled at your fingertips. The formidable precision EQ, with a range of action and progressiveness rarely seen. The Mid Freq switch allows you to correct different frequency ranges. 2kHz left, 500Hz center and 1kHz right, perfect for voicering the JVM in a modern style or not. The input gain is essential to gain clarity and act on the structure of the gain (more or less tight).
